United States Presidential Elections – guest speaker

Students in their last year of secondary education will attend one of two presentations about the US Presidential elections. The sessions will occur just a few weeks before the general election in November. The presentation will include a description of the election process, make some comparison with elections in Belgium and present some forecasts for the US and world based on who wins the election.

Cultural Variation – Influencing Expectations

Having realistic expectations is help people make a smooth transition into new place. As some of the people who are on the frontlines of assisting people relocate, you are in a prime position to provide guidance. People can only ask questions if they realize something is different, however, first time expats in particular, may not know what they don’t know. During this brief session some examples of differences from other countries will be presented, but some elements about Belgium will be highlighted. The goal is to expand their knowledge and help them help others.

Workshop - Intercultural Awareness

Managing an International Environment in a Company

Individuals who are able to recognize the cultural differences can usually more effectively conduct business. The workshop will present several of the cultural dimensions which can impact doing business. The interactive workshop will give participants the chance to discuss and work on three important but diverse aspects of managing in international environment: communication, meetings and the employee selection process.
